In early 2024 I applied for the freelance position of Head of Marketing at Dance Umbrella and started the contract in March. My services include planning and implementing the festival campaign, including managing the budget and scheduling activity. I am write copy for all of the shows, liaise with the artists around content and assets and work with the venues to maximise awareness for our shows and the broader festival.

I work closely with PR agency Bread & Butter to gain coverage in the media for the events and to raise the profiles of festival artists. I also work alongside the Digital Content Manager to plan the digital communications strategy and create interesting, informative and engaging content for DU’s platforms.

Prior to taking up my current contract, I had been approached by Dance Umbrella’s previous Head of Marketing to help collate images, copy and video content from the artists and companies programmed to appear in the 2023 festival.

My remit included copywriting and editing for the festival brochure and website, as well as working with Dance Umbrella’s design agency O Street to create the DL die-cut festival brochure. I liaised with the printers to ensure the brochures were produced to the highest possible standard.

I returned to the organisation for the duration of the festival to assist with the implementation of the marketing campaign.
